THE BEST CANDIDATES FOR A BROWLIFT IN SEATTLE
The best candidates for browlift surgery are men and women
who are physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic
in their expectations. Most are 35 or older.
As in all other specialties of medicine, making the correct
diagnosis is essential to successful treatment. It is quite
common for patients, and some doctors, to look at the aging
eyelids and incorrectly think there is too much upper eyelid
skin when in fact the problem lies in sagging of the brow.
This sagging produces an overhang of the upper eyelid skin
that gives the appearance of upper lid skin excess. When laxity
of the brow is not corrected first, upper eyelid skin may
be removed that should have been left alone and either the
problem of an overhanging lid due to a lax brow persists or
too much skin of the upper lids is resected. In such cases
it may be impossible to correct the brow problem later because
so much normal upper eyelid skin has been removed that the
patient would then be unable to close the eyes. Evaluation
of the aging eyelids must always begin with evaluation of
the brow.

PLANNING YOUR BROWLIFT SURGERY IN SEATTLE
This procedure is performed in our office surgical facility
and the patient is able to return home following surgery.
BROWLIFT SURGERY
An incision of variable length (depending on the specific
brow condition) is made in the hairline. With normal hair
density the incision is concealed within the hairline. No
hair is shaved from the scalp. The brow tissue is completely
released from the underlying bone, repositioned upward, the
excess scalp tissue removed and the wound closed. A facelift
dressing is applied and will be removed the following day
and any drains also removed at that time.
AFTER YOUR BROWLIFT SURGERY
Antibiotics may be continued for several days following browlift
surgery. Sutures are removed in 10-14 days. Swelling usually
subsides within a week and bruising, when it occurs, typically
occurs around the eyes and subsides in 2-3 weeks. Eye makeup
may be used immediately unless there has been surgery to the
eyelids in which case makeup can be used in 5-7 days. Dr.
Rekow determines when normal activities can be resumed; however,
strenuous exercise must be avoided for several weeks following
surgery.
